Polilight PDTAbout Polilight® PDT

The Polilight®1 PDT is designed to be a multipurpose 500Watt medical light source with selectable optical output bands. It is designed to be compact, portable and self calibrating; to be used in a number of medical light based treatments or examination applications and have a multiplicity of functions for typically a dermatologist and/or cosmetic surgeon.

The Polilight® PDT‘s primarily application to date to be used in Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) applications in either device-drug combination or other purely light based therapies. To date the Polilight® PDT has been successfully used in clinical trials for the treatment of Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), Bowen Disease (BD) and Actinic Keratosis (AK). In these applications the Polilight® PDT is used to activate a photosensitive drug.

1 ® - “Polilight” is registered Class10 Medical and Surgical Trade Mark (Madrid convention, EU, USA, Australia).

Polilight® PDT Configurations

The Polilight® PDT is design to include up to 12 optical output bands. The optical bands can be from the Ulta-violet (UVA), bands within the visible spectrum (400-700nm range) and Infra-Red bands (700-1000nm). The Polilight® PDT configuration used within the clinical trial for BBC, BD, and AK ( see above) included a UVA 320 - 380nm, 415nm band +/- 20nm and a broad band 575 - 655 (80nm bandpass).
